Viraemia - Viraemia

(23 Oct 2010)

Listening to this makes me sound like all those closed-minded elitist pricks who would dismiss Death Magnetic as a load of corporate bullshit and still say that Master Of Puppets is pure genius R.I.P. Cliff Burton without a bit of sarcasm in their voice, but the fact is that this is, in essence, Technical Death Metal for fringed 15 year-olds to call "TEH MOST BR00TALYST AND TEKNICHULL THING EVAR!!!!!11!" on Bullet For My Valentine's forum. This is Technical Death Pop. The next Through The Fire And The Flames. Whatever you like to call it.

Every track has a fast-paced breakdown for a chorus and an infinite onslaught of guitars getting a handjob to fill up the space between. The songs never seem to have any direction and all the riffs are either some variation of going up and down the scale, some chuggish thing, some deathcore lead or a hybrid of all of them. The vocals have good delivery but are nothing memorable. As for the drums and bass, those things just follow the guitars.

Even if I now learn to play the three instruments and practice for 56 hours a day over the course of three years, I wouldn't be able to play or compose these songs in the end. But, then again, I would instead be able to play something that is actually interesting, like Behold... The Arctopus.

Standout tracks:
Pit Of Pestilence
