The Dillinger Escape Plan - Irony is a Dead Scene

(27 Sep 2010)

I once saw this in a shop for less than 5€, and now I really regret not having bought it, because it's got some really great stuff. There is definitely a very good chemistry between DEP and Mike Patton, and the sound is very eclectic and will keep you interested throughout.

The only problem I have with this EP is that, once you pay more attention, you start to realize that the songs are all really incoherent, and there seem to be quite a lot of parts they just slapped in that really don't fit with anything (such as the middle part of "Pig Latin"). Nevertheless, I've already been listening to this almost non-stop for over three days now, and that's something.

Also, "When Good Dogs Do Bad Things" has become one of my all-time favourite songs, due to its mix of weirdness, wittiness, humour, intensity, and overall greatness.

Standout tracks:

Pig Latin
When Good Dogs Do Bad Things
