Digitalis Purpurea - Aseptic White

(03 Jan 2011)

What I like about buying albums on a whim based on good ratings is that usually the ratings will be right. If an album has a rating of 4, it's probably something great. When I listened to Aseptic White at the shop, it sounded promising, so I put my trust in all three of the previous ratings that this would be an incredibly good, yet completely undiscovered industrial metal release. Three tracks in, it seemed like that could just be the case, but then I realized that every single tracks is pretty much the same: catchy, rather good, pounding industrial metal that doesn't really add anything new. The album evolves about as much in its 47 minutes as, well, evolution does in 47 minutes.

Despite being fun industrial by numbers, it is quite fun, and "Rotten Meal" is in fact relatively original, so, in the end, it all sort of evens out to 3 stars.

Standout tracks:

We're All Stars on Our Snuff Suicide
Crittodream
Ideomatic
Rotten Meal
