Sadist - Crust

(1 Nov 2010)

So far, I've only heard Above The Light and Tribe by these guys, so I'll make all comparisons to those two albums. Well, Crust is heavier than both albums combined, and has a lot more atmosphere.

This album is very in-your-face and aggressive, and the keyboards are not only better implemented, but also far more interesting and technical, at times being really spacey (such as "Holy...") and others times downright evil ("Instinct"). Sadly, the songs themselves are far more straightforward this time. Nevertheless, they are still packed with really interesting ideas throughout, and there are some elements groove here and there.

One thing that improved substantially though are the vocals, which are much louder in the mix and much better delivered than previously. If the heaviness of Crust were mixed with the complexity and originality of Tribe, you'd have had yourself the best Death Metal album ever.

Standout tracks:

Perversion Lust Orgasm
Holy...
Ovariotomy
Instinct
I Rape You
