!T.O.O.H.! - Řád a Trest

(12 Aug. 2010)

After the madness that was Pod Vládou Biče, it would have been difficult to make something even more insane. This album is not more insane. It is just about as insane as their sophomore, only it manages to at the same time be extremely easy to get into. I started to love this release shortly after the second listen, and still find it incredibly enjoyable now.

The aspect that seems to turn people off Řád a Trest are the vocals. I myself didn't like them all that much at first, but remember: this is not your average Technical Death Metal album. This is what insanity would sound like. The riffs are simply weird: a mix of heaviness with melody, and the vocals fit perfectly: they're something between clean vocals, screams and growls, and complete the music in a way no other kind of vocals could.

The production is also an improvement: instead of the thin, weird and crunchy production found on Pod Vládou Biče, we have a very heavy and clear production that completely surrounds you in sound, fitting in perfectly with the music.

What really makes this album a completely different monster from their previous effort is the addition of much more melody and atmosphere to the music, which makes it even crazier. The end result is truly excellent. The only reason why this doesn't get five stars is that "Hanička – Příběh Nebožačky" is awfully boring and really ruins the pacing of the album, only to have it really pick up again with "Já Samaritán".

The loss of !T.O.O.H.! in the world of metal will not be forgotten.
