The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine

(04 Dec 2010)

The math parts here are, for the most part, amazingly boring, and the more accessible stuff is, for the most part, just lame. Obviously, they start shifting style here, but the ideas are still not developed enough, and the result is very mediocre.

What is frustrating about this album is that there are three songs here that are, in my humble opinion, among DEP's best, and those happen to be "Van Damsel", "Phone Home" and the blissful and epic "Baby's First Coffin". Even though it is very poppy, "Unretrofied" is okay and "Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants" has some nice parts. I am merely pointing those songs out because I found the rest completely forgettable.

Standout tracks:

Van Damsel
Phone Home
Baby's First Coffin
