You know those albums that you listen to, and you can clearly hear that the band knows what it's doing? It might not necessarily be a specially good album, but every second of the music evokes confidence. You just know that it is an album that will be remembered for a long time.
Cynic have so far made two albums, and both of them are such albums as described above.
After fifteen years, the change of sound was to be expected, and I might go as far as saying that it is better than Focus. I would say that the sound is somewhere between the old Cynic, The Wall-era Pink Floyd and Dream Theater. Excellent.
